New to SmileCon, DENT Talks to tackle community, profession, selves

A diverse roster of speakers will dive into three facets of dentistry — our community, our profession and ourselves — during DENT Talks at SmileCon.

New this year, each session will cover one of the facets and feature three speakers from the dental community to provide listeners with diverse perspectives on that talk's topic.

The sessions include DENT Talks: Our Community (1155) from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 11, DENT Talks: Our Profession (2163) from 11 a.m.-noon Oct. 12 and DENT Talks: Ourselves (3119) from 11 a.m.-noon Oct. 13 — all in Banyan B at the Mandalay Bay South Convention Center.

The speakers for the community session will be Diamond Higgin, student at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine; Anne L. Koch, D.M.D., founder of the postdoctoral program in endodontics and microsurgery at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine; and James E. Lee, D.M.D., a general dentist from Massachusetts and member of the American Dental Association New Dentist Committee.

The profession talk will feature Christopher M. Bulnes, D.M.D., a general dentist from Florida and past chair of the ADA Council on Dental Benefit Programs; Chelsea Fosse, D.M.D., senior health policy analyst with the ADA Health Policy Institute; and Jessica Meeske, D.D.S., a pediatric dentist from Nebraska and chair of the ADA Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention.

The speakers leading the discussion on ourselves will include Tina M. Brandon Abbatangelo, D.D.S., visiting assistant professor of clinical sciences and director of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine Main Campus Clinic; Brett E. Gilbert, D.D.S., an endodontist from Illinois and professor in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago; and Brett H. Kessler, D.D.S., ADA trustee.

Each session is worth one hour of continuing education credit. DENT Talks are included in the meeting's Smile Pass and Platinum Smile Pass.
