CMS to host March 21 webinar on No Surprises Act

Dental providers invited to join virtual Q&A, must register prior to event

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid is hosting a virtual webinar on March 21 on the No Surprises Act, also known as surprise billing, and its applicability to dental providers.

CMS Chief Dental Officer Natalia Chalmers, D.D.S., Ph.D., will lead the one-hour discussion, which will focus on the requirements to provide good faith estimates to uninsured and self-pay patients and the patient-provider dispute resolution process.

CMS scheduled this webinar after hearing from the ADA about dentists' questions and concerns on surprise billing and the good faith estimates.

The webinar will take place on the Registration for Technical Assistance Portal platform on March 21 from 1-2 p.m. ET. All participants must register before 4 p.m. ET on March 20 in order to attend the event.

CMS is taking questions in advance of the event. To submit a question, dentists are asked to first view this presentation on good faith estimates and the patient-provider dispute resolution process. Additional resources can also be found on the CMS website.

After viewing the presentation, dentists may submit their questions by email through the CMS provider enforcement inbox at provider_enforcement@cms.hhs.gov. All questions must be submitted before 5 p.m. March 16 and contain the subject line Dental Provider Q&A Session.

To register for the event, visit the Registration for Technical Assistance Portal and create an account. After the account is created, log in and go to the dashboard. Once there, select, Training Events, followed by the View icon next to the event titled, Dental Provider Q&A Session. From there, select "Register Me."
