Letters: ADA leadership and Sen. Sanders

August 19, 2013

The ADA needs to stay away from Sen. Bernie Sanders. In the June 17 ADA News ADA leadership show their support of Sen. Sanders' interest in meddling with the dental profession, validating it with high praise from our own president Dr. Robert Faiella.

A year ago, in the June 18, 2012, issue, the ADA News showed that Dr. Bill Calnon used his presidency to do the same thing. Sen. Sanders is an avowed socialist. Socialism at its essence is the abolition of private property. The ADA represents thousands of dentists that pay thousands of dollars each year so their private property will be protected because it is how we best help people and provide for our families. We have sacrificed massive amounts of our time, money and lives to have a job that affords us private control of our professional lives. Instead of getting behind anybody that shows a whiff of interest in dentistry, ADA leadership needs to find one legislator that shares our interests and methods to protect our autonomy.
