Webinar to discuss providing oral care to toddlers at Give Kids A Smile events

A free webinar from the American Dental Association will offer tips on how to incorporate oral health care for children from birth to age 5 into Give Kids A Smile events.

"ADA Tiny Smiles — How and Why It's Important to Incorporate into Your GKAS Program" is scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m. CDT April 27.

Tiny Smiles is a GKAS program sponsored by Colgate and CareCredit that provides free resources for dental professionals, medical professionals and educators to raise awareness about the oral health needs of children between birth and age 5, with a primary focus on increasing the number of general dentists who are comfortable with and willing to provide the age 1 dental visit.

The course will provide participants with an increased knowledge of Tiny Smiles resources, new ideas on how to expand current GKAS programs to provide services to children from birth to age 5, and an understanding of the importance of the age 1 dental visit and ways to successfully work with other medical professionals to provide oral health services to this population.

The speakers will include David M. Krol, M.D., medical director of the Connecticut Children's Care Network; Craig Hollander, D.D.S., a pediatric dentist in private practice for 30 years; and Elizabeth Simpson, D.M.D., a general dentist at Meridian Health Services dental clinics in Indiana.
