ADASRI, dental schools seek comments for guideline on acute pain management

American Dental Association members are invited to share their expertise and insight on the management of acute dental pain, including the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and opioids.

A panel of subject matter experts and methodologists from the ADA Science & Research Institute, University of Pennsylvania and University of Pittsburgh are developing a clinical practice guideline on this subject. They are asking the public to review and comment on the guideline’s recommendation statements, which were informed by a systematic review of the best available scientific evidence.

These statements are available to view online at ADA.org/pain.

Comments are due by Dec. 5. The panel and methodologists will review the comments as they further develop the guideline, which will be submitted in 2022 to a peer-reviewed journal for publication.

To learn more or submit comments, visit ADA.org/pain or email the ADA Science & Research Institute at SRI@ADA.org.
