Miami-Area Dentist Selected as President-Elect of the American Dental Association

CHICAGO, October 19, 2020 — Cesar R. Sabates, D.D.S., a general dentist from Coral Gables, Florida, is the new president-elect of the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Sabates was recently elected at the ADA FDC Virtual Connect Conference 2020, a joint meeting of the ADA and Florida Dental Association (FDA). 

From 2016 to 2020, Dr. Sabates served as the 17th District trustee of the ADA Board of Trustees and was delegate on the House of Delegates from 2000 to 2016.  Dr. Sabates is also past president of the FDA and South Florida District Dental Association. 

Over the course of his career, Dr. Sabates has earned a number of fellowships from prominent organizations, including the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In addition to the ADA and FDA, Dr. Sabates is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the Hispanic Dental Association. Dr. Sabates is the founding president of the Dental Lifeline Network-Florida, serving as president from 2011 to April 2020. 

Dr. Sabates has received numerous awards and honors. Among them are: The Florida Dental Association’s  J. Leon Schwartz Lifetime Achievement Award – 2020, The Florida Dental Association’s Presidents Choice Award – 2018, South Florida District Dental Association Alan E. Friedel Service and Leadership Award – 2018,  University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry Alumnus of the Year – 2016, Florida Dental Association Special Recognition Award – 2014, Hispanic Dental Association Award “for his continued commitment to oral health” – 2012, ADA Presidential Citation – 2012, Dentist of the Year – South Florida District Dental Association – 2003 and Dentist of the Day – Florida House of Representatives, April 2, 1997.

A graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, Dr. Sabates earned his D.D.S. and then began practicing general dentistry. Dr. Sabates maintains a private practice in Coral Gables, Florida.
