ADA Corporate Ventures Welcomes Three New Board Members

CHICAGO, July 2, 2025 — The American Dental Association’s (ADA) Corporate Ventures (ACV), created to pursue commercial applications of oral health research conducted by the ADA Forsyth Institute, is pleased to announce three new board members. Michael Greeley, general partner at Flare Capital Partners; Amir Abolfathi, seasoned health care executive; and Sara E. Stuefen, D.D.S., ADA Tenth District Trustee, will join ACV President and Chief Executive Officer, Dave Preble, D.D.S., J.D.

The addition of three board members allows ACV to consider new opportunities for oral health research innovation in real time. “Michael, Amir and Sara bring diverse backgrounds and mindsets to the Board of ADA Corporate Ventures,” said Dr. Preble. “Their combined experience in health care innovation and advancement, investment advisory, and the dental industry will provide the ACV Board with the insight and expertise required to consider new, collaborative endeavors so that today’s oral health innovations become tomorrow’s clinical practice.”

ACV aims to develop innovative technologies from promising scientific research in support of advancing the profession and patient health.


About Michael Greeley

Michael Greeley is a co-founder and general partner at Flare Capital Partners and was the founding general partner of Flybridge Capital Partners. He is an ADA Forsyth Board Member and serves on the Investment Committee for the Partners Innovation Fund and the Advisory Board of Harvard Business School’s Health Care Initiative. Mr. Greeley sits on numerous health care boards and has served on various innovation and investment advisory boards. Additionally, he served on the board of International Data Group, the founding partner of IDG Capital, a leading venture capital firm in China. Mr. Greeley earned a BA with honors in chemistry from Williams College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.


About Amir Abolfathi

Amir Abolfathi is a seasoned health care executive with over 37 years of expertise in developing and commercializing innovative medical devices across cardiovascular, dental and other health care sectors. Most recently, he served as CEO and Co-Founder of uLab Systems, where he spearheaded the creation and market introduction of next-generation AI-powered orthodontic aligners. He was also the first executive vice president and officer of research and development at Align Technology (NASDAQ: ALGN) and played a critical role in the early development and global launch of Invisalign, revolutionizing orthodontic treatment. He is a current board member for six venture-backed startups spanning the urology, cardiovascular and dental industries.


About Sara E. Stuefen, D.D.S.

Dr. Sara E. Stuefen is a general dentist in Iowa and the Tenth District Trustee of the American Dental Association. She has served on multiple ADA councils and committees and is a lecturer for the ADA Success Program, through which she speaks with dental students across the country. She also serves on a national Dental Quality Alliance workgroup evaluating and developing quality measures for dentistry. She is a past Iowa Dental Association (IDA) Trustee and currently serves as vice chair of the IDA Legislative Committee and the Iowa Dental Political Action Committee. Dr. Stuefen received her dental degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
