DMO mission statement

  • Enhance membership value through employing excellent customer service and by cultivating strong relationships with constituent and component staff, members and non-members and other customers of DMO;
  • Implement membership policies and procedures in accordance with ADA Bylaws; 
  • Maintain the ADA dentist masterfile database integrity on the Aptify System;
  • Support ADA market share goals by providing database support for membership recruitment and retention efforts;
  • Support ADA financial goals through accurate and timely processing of dues payments and provide management and leaders with accurate and reliable membership forecasts and membership reports.
Provides assistance and service to state society staff

DMO works with constituent societies to process dues payments and provide information on members and non-members for recruitment and retention. DMO provides dues quotes for members and state society staff who do dues billing for our members. We perform database reconciliations; manage the annual Life member election for members who become eligible for life membership; DMO staff verifies eligibility of members for life membership status. We produce and distribute life member pins to members who meet the requirements for life membership.

DMO staff works directly with state society staff to help identify members who will become non-renewing members and helps confirm membership status for the annual membership drop process. DMO responds to general member inquiries and processes membership for ADA direct membership categories which include International (foreign dentists), associate (faculty and dental researchers), graduate students, Federal Dental Service dentist members, non-practicing dentist members, US dentists working abroad, provisional members and ADA direct members.

Annually, DMO produces end of year membership reports including the Membership Statement that reports fully privileged members and from which the annual delegate calculation is based on and the annual National and State Recruitment and Retention reports, referred to as the market share reports, as well as produces specialty and target market recruitment and retention reports.

Annually produces the ADA Dues forecast from which the ADA annual budget for dues revenues are set for the next year.

DMO produces the annual ADA membership cards and provides them to the constituent societies who distribute them to the members when their dues are paid. DMO also produces student membership cards for student members and direct member categories of membership.

What they do

Administrate membership policies and procedures in accordance with ADA Constitution and Bylaws. We maintain the ADA dentist masterfile database of over 300,000 records and performs various database updates to help maintain the integrity of the dentist masterfile. We annually handle over $55 million in dues processing. DMO reconciles those dues for more than 179,000 members with the state dental societies and helps state staff bill members correctly for membership. DMO produces membership information and market share reports annually, quarterly and for membership recruitment and retention efforts. Provides database support for state and local dental society strategic planning and outreach efforts. Additionally, DMO works with the Office of Student Affairs to process student dues and the state societies to convert graduating students to active membership.

Customers

DMO’s customers include officers and council members, volunteer leaders, members, non-members, state and local society staff, ADA staff, and related dental organizations staff. We also work with the dental specialty organizations to verify membership annually. DMO works closely with the American Student Dental Association to process student dues payments and create and maintain student records.

DMO staff help train state and local membership staff on ADA membership procedures and eligibility requirements for the ADA membership classifications and provide second tier support on how to perform various membership business processes on Aptify. DMO staff also provide second tier support for members calling the ADA with specific member questions.
