Antitrust
Federal and state antitrust laws are enforceable through both private and governmental legal action and carry significant civil and criminal penalties. Potential antitrust violations can arise in many different contexts, and dentists may not realize that there is a problem until it is too late to solve it. Dentists should have a basic understanding of antitrust laws and should exercise great care, including consulting a qualified attorney, before participating in any activities with other dentists that could lead to an antitrust violation, such as activities regarding fees, reimbursement, or competition.
