Trusted products, backed by science

The ADA Seal of Acceptance® helps you identify safe and effective products for patients.

Dental professional speaking

The ADA Seal serves as a trusted, evidence-based resource to support confident patient recommendations, with more than 400 products earning the Seal across categories including toothbrushes, toothpastes, mouth rinses, interdental cleaners, sugarless gum and more.

For more than 90 years, the ADA Seal of Acceptance has been the leading mark of safety and efficacy for dental products. Since 1931, the program has evaluated over-the-counter oral care products through independent laboratory or clinical testing to ensure they meet rigorous requirements established by the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs and can substantiate the claims made on their packaging.

What types of products have earned the ADA Seal?

More than 400 products have earned the ADA Seal across 21 oral care categories, including toothpastes, manual and powered toothbrushes, mouth rinses, interdental cleaners, sugar-free chewing gum, denture care products, and other oral care products.

Where can I find a list of ADA Seal-accepted products?

You can search the complete, up-to-date list of ADA Seal-accepted products by category, product type, or manufacturer using the ADA Seal Product Search Page.

What does the ADA Seal statement on packaging mean?

Each ADA Seal-accepted product includes an approved Seal statement (bullet points in a box with the ADA Seal logo) that identifies the specific claim(s) evaluated by the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs. These statements indicate exactly what claims the product has demonstrated through scientific evidence. If the manufacturer makes any elective claims on the package, they must provide evidence for those as well.
