The Admission Test for Dental Hygiene is a nationally administered standardized admission test for individuals applying to dental hygiene programs. It is administered to understand the skill levels of applicants and used to assist with admissions decisions.

On April 18, 2023, DTS staff and members of the Council on Dental Education and Licensure (CDEL) presented an informative webinar on the Admission Test for Dental Hygiene (ATDH).
This webinar provided important information concerning the fast-growing ATDH, its validity, reliability, and fairness, and how dental hygiene programs can take advantage of this important new tool for use in admission procedures.

Examinee Information Report
The ATDH was first administered in September 2021. The information provided in this report reflects data collected during 2021 and 2022. The Examinee Information Report (PDF) contains:
- information about examinees’ self-reported gender
- whether they spoke English as a first language
- state of residence
- science and math-related courses taken in high school and college
- completed college courses, years of college completed, review courses taken and
- anticipated enrollment year for their dental hygiene program
