Secure Your Legacy with ADA Practice Transitions
ADA Practice Transitions (ADAPT), a service offered by the ADA, makes the process of entering or leaving a dental practice more predictable and successful. ADAPT helps practice owners find the right associate to hire or a buyer who will carry on their legacy. Alternatively, ADAPT finds the right associateship for dentists looking for a job or the right practice to purchase for dentists looking to find their forever home.
ADAPT is currently matching general dentists who own a practice or want to work in Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin. For more information or to sign up, visit ADAPracticeTransitions.com.
Here is what dentists have to say about ADA Practice Transitions
"Thank you for having this service available. It has made all the stress of trying to find a new position stress-free!" – Member Dentist
"I highly, extremely recommend ADAPT. Five stars! This worked for me and I know [my match] feels the same way. The big companies, you pay a big chunk of money right off the bat not knowing what you're going to get. It hasn't been that way with ADAPT." - Member Dentist
"Suzanne [ADA Advisor] has had our best interests in mind and it hasn't been difficult to trust her suggestions. I feel like she gets who we are and who would be a good match for us, on levels even deeper than dentistry." – Member Dentist
- The platform went live in 2019 for the following states: Wisconsin, Maine, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Minnesota, Iowa, & New Hampshire
- All elements of the program will be carefully evaluated with recommendations. Further expansion in the remaining states is expected. Timeline and order are still being determined.
ADA Practice Transitions FAQ
Why is the ADA conducting this pilot?
Field research identified a need in the marketplace for dentists and practice owners to connect for employment opportunities and to facilitate the transition of a practice from one owner to another. The ADA recognizes that there is a need for a more predictable and reliable process than what currently exists in the marketplace today.
At its core, ADA Practice Transitions is working to support independent dentistry and increase access to care in the United States. Testing during the pilot phase will ensure the service is able to successfully launch on a national scale. In-depth research is being conducted throughout the creation and implementation of the service. The pilot will ensure that learning from research correlate with the actions dentists take in regards to these important transitions.
What are the elements of the pilot?
The approved pilot has two main elements:
- An online platform that facilitates connections between dentists and practice owners to aid important transitions (like finding associates or buying/selling a practice), and,
- Purchasing up to two dental practices in order to place dentists in these practices with the express intention of selling the practice to those dentists after a target period of time.
