About the ADA Standards Committee on Dental Informatics (ADA SCDI)
The ADA develops standards for dental informatics through the ADA Standards Committee on Dental Informatics (SCDI). The scope of the SCDI is:
The ADA SCDI shall develop informatics standards, specifications, technical reports, and guidelines and interact with other entities involved in the development of health informatics standards aimed at implementation across the dental profession.
The SCDI is comprised of 48 voting members from the profession, dental industry, academia, and the government. The SCDI is organized into four subcommittees and 24 working groups working on the development or revision of technical reports or standards. The subcommittees are grouped according to the following general subject matters: Information Exchange, Clinical Informatics, Knowledge Management and Forensic Odontology Informatics. The working groups, organized under the subcommittees, address specific topics and provide an opportunity for all interests to participate in the development of voluntary consensus standards. The actual standards development occurs in the working groups.
The ADA Standards Committee on Dental Informatics (SCDI) will be holding their next meetings February 22–24, 2021 virtually. Meeting registration will be posted soon.
